Flag Day Ceremony June 14th, 2014

Posted by jspataro on Jun 28 2014 - 1:51pm

A Scout is ready to do his duty. That means a proper retirement for worn United States flags. James Onorevole was awarded Eagle Scout on May 20th, 2012. His project consisted of acquiring, painting and placing flag depositories at key areas in Rockaway Township, like in front of town hall and at the fire stations. Additionally, James initiates the flag ceremony, which he describes in the Neighbor News article on June 11th and which is photographed in the Neighbor News on June 25th. Both were published in the Denville Rockaway Township Editions. Thank you James for your dedication and loyalty to our country and our troop. http://www.northjersey.com/community-news/recreation/scouts-to-properly-retire-old-worn-american-flags-1.1032877 http://www.northjersey.com/community-news/recreation/photos-showing-proper-respect-for-worn-out-flags-in-rockaway-1.1040204?photo=1&c=y

New Tents for Troop 113!

Posted by jspataro on Jun 28 2014 - 1:50pm

Troop 113 is a very active troop and camping equipment and gear takes a real beating! Thanks to the hard work and dedication of one scout parent (who wishes to remain anonymous), the troop has recently acquired 6 brand new Eureka Sunrise 5 4-person tents.   The monetary cost to the troop was approximately $27.00 , however, countless hours were devoted to asking for donations, collecting money, negotiating a price with a vendor, not to mention ordering and transporting the tents back to the shed.  That's what makes this troop especially great for the scouts...a scout run troop with great adult guidance, support and drive!  Great example for us all!  Attached is a picture of the tents that will be available for trips beginning September, 2014.
